How it works
You just bought a box
Start with a precon or Jumpstart, the Arena tutorial, and 20 life. Singles come after you pick a format.
If nobody at the table knows Magic, play the official Arena tutorial or two Jumpstart packs. A Commander precon is fine if someone already knows the turn.
Count your lands. Shuffle properly. Draw seven. Mulligan if you have zero lands or seven lands. Say the phases if you need to.
Do not buy a binder of random mythics first. Pick a format — Commander, Standard, or Limited — then buy the cards that format actually uses.
Foil and showcase are the same spell. Sleeve what you love; play the cheap printing if the table is messy.
